Franklin has had some pretty good takes this week, but this is NOT one of them. Notre Dame did, in fact, play (and beat) USC -- and including Purdue on a list of teams that would prove a squad's worthiness is, well, something.
James Franklin on the Orange Bowl: "Notre Dame doesn't win that game if they are in a conference like everyone else. We were worn down after going through the grind of a Big Ten schedule. They didn't have to play teams like USC & Purdue. We did."

I have not always been a fan of James Franklin, but this is 100 percent on point. It makes zero sense for the league to have this event in Vegas.
