Don't argue with RFK Jr's dehumanization of autistic people by saying, "Well I'm autistic/my son is autistic and I/he can do those things!" You're feeding into eugenics when you do that. Discard RFK Jr's argument wholesale: we don't measure human value that way.
I actually started writing a longform post about this but got distracted by other stuff. How many people who use D/deaf folks as an excuse for not wearing a mask avoid using a microphone at their in-person events? So many. It's almost like they use disabled people as objects.
i'm deaf and i'm saying everyone should be wearing a mask. lipreading isn't the only way to communicate. using my disability as a gotcha is very problematic of you
I now have to repeatedly and specifically indicate that I want to chat with a 'human agent' rather than an AI bot when I am seeking support for something. AI is ruining every single experience.
I led a session this week on the window of tolerance. While you absolutely should not try to be your students' therapist -- really, don't do that!! -- it can be so helpful to recognize that your students have nervous systems and those nervous systems are not doing well rn.
Me: "Alright, let's lock in." *puts on spring ambience near a crackling fireplace soundscape*
I recently led a session on moral injury and the pandemic. If you're feeling like you're being forced to do things that violate your moral code or witness your moral code being violated, you might be experiencing moral injury. You are not alone.
When we're talking about literal genocide, there is no space for "more than one perspective." Genocide is unconscionable. The end.
Is #GoogleAnalytics down? Server error for anyone else?
I'm building a community of ed dev and DEIA folks who have lost their jobs, are about to lose their jobs, or who are nervous their jobs might be on the line. This particular experience is unique and harrowing. We need community now, more than ever.
August is a fantastic time to get ready for the semester. I've planned sessions all month. Topics include group work, window of tolerance, hidden curriculum, accommodations, and mentorship. Sessions designed for connection. #EduTwitter #AcademicChatter bit.ly/AW-2025

I am hosting a workshop on moral injury in a few weeks. It completely filled up within 24 hours, so I opened up a second offering. People are not okay and are seeking community. Where you can build community, build it.
Everything that's happening everywhere is so devastating. It's too much for each of us to carry on our own. But if we work together, we can take turns carrying the weight. When we carry it, we let other people rest. They want us tired and selfish. The solution is community.
