First read of the year couldn’t be more for me + the moment: a bleakly comic story about a 35-year old writer on New Year’s Eve, equal parts melancholic and hilarious, and even with a reference to “that photo of John Lennon walking funny.” So, so good - coming in June @softskull

Completely wowed by this entrancing, frenetic little survey of desperation, dignity, and distraction. A spiraling void full of fast food deep fryers and DVD cabinets. First great book of 2025? Out in March from @NewDirections

Wait this is going to be the best film of all time
Sissy Spacek and Nick Nolte have joined the cast of Lynne Ramsay's "Die My Love," alongside previously announced Jennifer Lawerence, Robert Pattison, and LaKeith Stanfield. The film is set in a remote forgotten rural area, the story follows a mother (Lawrence) who struggles to…
Already absorbed by this manic spiral of a novel. Cover of the year(?) doesn’t hurt! #WITMonth @VersoBooks

Kicked off #WITMonth with this stunner. Echoes of: Markson, Fosse (obligatory but for real), Lowery’s A GHOST STORY, ENYS MAN, Joanna Newsom’s “Divers” album, the cool and misty feeling of a mid-November morning… extremely my shit in other words. 🔜 @NewDirections

In my “can I finish all of these before I leave for vacation tomorrow, so that I have space to bring an entire OTHER large stack of books for the next two weeks” bag

It’s a shame this isn’t out ‘til October, because the oppressive summer heat and humidity only amplify its buzzing, restless, and vibrant depiction of mid-1800s New Orleans. Pulls off the magic trick of feeling both claustrophobic and expansive all at once. Yuri forever, etc.

This book! Like listening in on a fascinating discussion with a brilliant writer… speaking both into and from out of their own novel-in-progress. So distinctly Gladman and yet completely singular from her past work. I guess I like romance books now. Dorothy! September 3rd!

Exciting day @LiteratiBkstore where you can now stumble across even more new and exciting small press books courtesy of the fine folks @asterism_books , at least as long as I can personally fight the urge to buy all of them…

With the help of our members, we put together a list of bookstores that do an especially good job carrying and supporting the work of independent literary publishers. Celebrate #IndieBookstoreDay by finding one to shop at and support: clmp.org/bookstores/
Happy #IndieBookstoreDay — celebrate by buying one of these recent indie press books that I either loved or can’t wait to read! (Not pictured but also should be, ‘What Kingdom’ from @archipelagobks since we sold out)

So excited for today’s bookmail that I already only have one sentence left in this 🧐
