Building a better way to use the internet, with @diabrowser and @arcinternet.
Meet @diabrowser. Now available for Arc members.
The one & only @tfeener is now Head of Engineering at @browsercompany 💖 Tara has spent her career building creative tools — from Adobe to Paper by FiftyThree — and we see Dia Skills as a new creative format for software. Couldn’t imagine a better leader (or human) than Tara!
The new skills gallery in @diabrowser gives you access to the expertise of a very talented community of creators. Here's how it works:
I’ve been evaluating people using my @diabrowser /skill. It’s called /graham and It’s scary good. Watch me test it on a few victims live (incl. @nikitabier )
Need inspiration? There’s a /skill for that. 🖼️ Dia Skills Gallery v0.1 is now live A quick thread of our team’s favorites:
Excited to ship a new feature in @diabrowser today that we're calling inline browsing — a subtle but significant shift in how AI and the web fit together. Here’s a quick look at the thinking behind it.
Best sidebar we’ve made yet
Sidebar is here (Sound on 🔊)
Now that Dia is live, @hursh & I wanted to have a therapeutic “tell-all” convo about the past year — pivoting from Arc to Dia. We spoke to @danshipper for 1.5 hours, it was a vulnerable convo between founders. The episode is now live – search “AI & I” on your podcast player!
new favorite skill in Dia: /every-edit any web page i'm on it can automatically copy edit it according to our internal @every style guide. this is going to save HOURS
Vertical tabs in @diabrowser make it feel like AI chat and a web browser actually fused together. There’s something natural about having your browser tabs right next to your AI chats in a sidebar. Rolling out in a week or two! Don’t worry, it’s just an option in Settings.
I wrote about the design of Dia. - How did the @browsercompany design team rally around the idea to make a ‘boring’ web browser? - What purpose does the design serve? - Where is Dia’s design going next?
Last week @diabrowser launched in beta Here's a preview of what's next A new prototype we're testing & thinking about Should we add this to Dia?
My favorite @diabrowser feature? Instead of pausing and rewinding how-to videos, I use Dia’s Ask in Page to show me the instructions I need. Now I can crochet and binge-watch my shows without missing a beat.
first off, thank you to everyone who’s tried out @diabrowser. we poured a lot of love into it and appreciate all your feedback ♥️ I wanted to share a quick demo of one use case in Dia I’ve found especially handy:
How I use @diabrowser, three ways. First up, using the Write Skill and context-based text selection to improve writing in place using the voice of another tab. If I'm pitching something to @joshm, you better believe I'm using our Notes on Roadtrips value essay.
Last week, I shared the design thinking behind @diabrowser with our closest friends & family. In the spirit of building in public, sharing the 10 min recording here too. It's a deep cut on Dia's architecture. Dia may look basic, but it’s surprisingly powerful under the hood:
