Due to frequent military moves, military spouses, long recruited to the fed. workforce by recent administrations, including Trump's, are more likely to be probationary. This Air Force spouse worked for the VA for 15 years but was still fired last week as a probationary employee:

“One hotline worker … said she had worked for the federal government for nine years before going to work at the crisis line. The employee, who also serves in the Air National Guard, was 12 days away from the end of her one-year probationary period when she was fired.”

Andrew Lennox is a 10 year Marine Corps veteran who was just fired from his VA job in Michigan. VA Sec. Doug Collins says the firings “will not negatively impact VA health care, benefits or beneficiaries.” Lennox disagrees.
