How about a commitment to engage with and listen to existing frontline Gardaí, get the basics right and retain existing experienced trained members rather than promising recruitment that will never materialise as long as the system is #KeepingCriminalsSafe
Incoming government pledges to recruit at least 5,000 new Garda recruits and additional Garda staff over the next five years.
The strength at present is 14,146. That is 600 lower than 4 years ago. The Government’s plan to increase numbers to 15,000 in the short term and then build them to 18,000 looks unlikely to be achieved..irishtimes.com/opinion/editor…
