Here's a thread of the one on one interviews I did at Sun Belt Media Days, published to the newly-revitalized THERSday Night YouTube page. Fittingly first up, Georgia State head coach Dell McGee: youtu.be/nP0XSZ5MZmo
Coach Huff told Braylon Braxton & the rest of @HerdFB he was off to @SouthernMissFB the week of the @SunBelt Championship Game. #SunBelt #CollegeFootball
Asked @DellMcGee about @GeorgiaStateFB and the community efforts seen this offseason His response:
Two things: 1. @treeyyy0 might be the coolest guy alive 2. LET HENRY RUN THE BALL @HenryBryantIII1
Southern Miss getting some extra shots up in the venue that hosts the Sun Belt tournament. Not a bad idea tbh
NEWS: The Pensacola Bay Center will host a Multi-Team Event (MTE) featuring North Florida, Southern Miss, Prairie View A&M, and UT Martin. A four-team bracketed event. Games to be played on November 22nd and 23rd. Matchups are TBA. #ASUN #SunBelt #SWAC #OVC
UTSA coach Jeff Traylor says his team gets some kind of superspiritual power with its connection to fans at the Alamodome. Said he just watched Avatar and it's a similar connection to the Na'vi and their home tree.
More to come, but for now, my dispatch from New Orleans - compiled from my one-on-ones with Dell McGee, Ted Hurst and Henry Bryant: What We Learned About Georgia State at Sun Belt Media Days 247sports.com/college/georgi…
I asked Michael Desormeaux about Georgia State's new O-line coach Bryant Ross, who spent 2018-2020 and 2022-2024 at Louisiana: "Getting to run his own room is something he's ready for and Georgia State is lucky to have him. He's a heck of a football coach."
*It's NOT an outright no.
I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were him, but it's an outright no from Dell when Henry Bryant - a former running back in high school - is asked if he could see the field on offense and tote the rock in 2025.
Christian Veilleux exited spring practice as QB1 and will enter fall camp as the starter. Dell McGee: "I won't say we won't play two QBs - we'll utilize the talents of our players to win football games." He highlighted the dual threat abilities of Cameran Brown and PJ Hatter.
