Phenomenal work by the great @Femiowodunni & @evanccc , in > than 20k type II Odontoid fractures. Frail have worse outcomes, but surgical treatment actually results in better outcomes compared to non-op tx in older patients. This can shift the way we think about this disease.

This is vital work - exposing & illuminating those that are corrupting the scientific peer -review process We in science have to clean this up before we can advance science as we ought to. We have been lazy as a field.

It is really sad though…it’s almost like they learned the right things to say and learned that the system (the game) doesn’t really care if they do the right things, as long as they say them loud enough. Talk is superficial & cheap, people’s actions reveal who they really are.

This paper is going to be highly influential within orthopedics and #frailty for many years to come. The #RAI risk analysis index always outperforms the modified frailty index (mFI) with predicting adverse outcomes with surgical procedures. Huge # of pts in this study!
