What a nightmare. @RFA has been a source of incredible investigations and daily news for the last 15+ years I've been working in/on #Cambodia . The autocrats and the criminals must be popping open the champagne. For shame @SecRubio
RFA does amazing reporting in the most difficult conditions in this region - especially Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia. We rely on them a lot - this is a real blow to us, to transparency accountability in Asia, to keeping people informed about what’s really going on. Very sad.

Some personal news, as they say: I feel so delighted and very very privileged to be joining @CNN today
Boer Deng has joined CNN as Supervising Editor for Enterprise. Welcome to CNN, @boerdeng!
This incredible documentary on the legacy of forced marriages during the rule of the Khmer Rouge is, sadly, the last piece from my team at RFA, as we have all been laid off. Please watch to the end: rfa.org/english/cambod…
The Economist: “Behind closed doors, [Western diplomats] admit that many Western governments now have little or no appetite for confronting China over repression in Tibet, Xinjiang or Hong Kong, claiming this is a time for pragmatism.” economist.com/international/…
Marco Rubio: “The story of the 21st century is going to be about what happened between the U.S. and China…The Chinese believe that they are on a path towards becoming the most powerful nation on Earth, that it’s inevitable, it’s just a matter of time.” state.gov/secretary-of-s…
Donald Trump shoots his own mouthpiece. My. take on the abrupt elimination of @VOANews, @RFERL, @RadioFreeAsia and more. Once again admin is choosing destruction over reform. America's foes are gloating at this latest retreat from the global war of ideas. economist.com/international/…
Please read our story:
A Chinese state-owned enterprise claimed Ma Ju owed it $12.5 million and was pursuing a judgment in the Nassau County Court. The case he recognized had its origins in China. It was based on what he considered was a corrupt and fraudulent 2017 court ruling against him in China.
Here’s the latest example of why @RadioFreeAsia is worth preserving. I can verify from my experience on Capitol Hill that congressional staff take these investigative reports seriously and often build legislation around them. “For Chinese dissidents abroad, harassment from…

“Living in a place where the government restricts press freedom is like living in the dark.” Journalist Aye Aye Mon was forced to flee Myanmar after the military coup in 2021. She has risked her life and her freedom to return and report on the civil war and its impact. #WeAreRFA
Radio Free Europe streamed unflinching coverage of Russia’s war in Ukraine to Russians when the Kremlin banned its citizens from calling it a war. (1/4)
“If we don’t keep fighting, we won’t survive.” Journalist Vuthy Huot survived a genocide by the Khmer Rouge. As a journalist with @RadioFreeAsiaKH, he tells stories that matter to local people. “The information is not filtered, not controlled, by the government.” #WeAreRFA
As the Trump administration works to dismantle VOA, RFE/RL and RFA, I'm thinking about our 10 journalists who are imprisoned around the world for doing their jobs. Journalism is not a crime. Here’s a thread on their cases.
