🗞️Excited to share our latest preprint on the shared genetics of common epilepsies and general cognitive ability (COG). doi.org/10.1101/2024.0… 🧬We showed almost complete overlap between common epilepsies and COG, and identified 66 distinct loci shared between these phenotypes.
📢 New preprint by Kevin S. O'Connell reveals major findings in bipolar disorder genetics! Analyzing 158K+ BD cases & 2.8M controls, the study identified 298 genome-wide significant loci—a 4x increase from prior research. 🧬🧠 #BipolarDisorder #Genetics #MentalHealth
I am happy to announce that our paper “Quantifying the relative importance of genetics and environment on the comorbidity between mental and cardiometabolic disorders using 17 million Scandinavians” is out in @NatureComms! nature.com/articles/s4146… 1/13
Via @GreenJournal: An extensive genetic overlap exists between generalized epilepsies and cortical morphology, suggesting that there is a complex genetic relationship with mixed-effect directions: bit.ly/3VpeRXT #NeuroTwitter #epilepsy #seizure @AANMember
New @MoBa_study preprint on psychotic experiences in adolescents out now!✨ medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
As you watch the Aurora this evening, it’s worth reflecting that you’re getting a rare direct glimpse of the power of Nature. Those charged particles causing the atmosphere to glow came from a sunspot complex 17 times the diameter of Earth and traveled across 90 million miles at…
Yesterday I defended my PhD thesis and became Dr. Voldsbekk. What a magnificent day! Thank you to the committee Ellen Greimel, @adrienne_romer & @SFruhholz for interesting discussions & to everyone else who came to share the day with me. #PhDone
Would you believe me if I told you that a single variant in a non-coding RNA explains ~0.5% of all undiagnosed individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) in @GenomicsEngland ??? I didn’t initially either, but here is the story of RNU4-2 🧵1/9
Thrilled to share our latest discovery on a spliceosomal snRNA gene causing neurodevelopmental disorders: medrxiv.org/content/10.110… Thank you to everyone who contributed; it’s been a phenomenal effort to collaborate with clinicians and researchers for what would help many families!
