You can see Blair "Paddy" Mayne's Ireland cap and more in the Blair Mayne Lounge at Hamilton Park, home of Ards Rugby Club. Blair was a Newtownards man and at the age of 19 already showed his leadership qualities as he led men nearly double his age as captain of Ards 1st XV!
Blair 'Paddy' Mayne won 3 Test caps, and 20 caps overall for the Lions on the 1938 Tour to South Africa. Yet surprisingly, he is more famous for his life after rugby... Our Tailor-Made Lion is brought to you by @charlestyrwhitt #GBR5 #Lions2025 #charlestyrwhitt

The contribution of the French to the regiment should never be forgotten 🇫🇷
1/3 July 14. Remembering the magnificent contribution of the French in the evolution of the SAS in WW2. I had the privilege of meeting many French veterans, including one of their Originals, Roger Boutinot, pic 2nd from left. Of the SAS in this photo only Roger survived the war
I thought you would find these interesting @blair_mayne My Wife's Great-Uncle was in the SAS in WW2 and his medals. The case was made by him in a POW camp apparently. #SAS
