i always believed liara kept that piece of shepard’s armor as both a reminder and a punishment of the day she handed her friend/lover’s body over to an organization that, no matter their intentions, could’ve brought shepard back wrong. we see her struggle with that guilt in ME2.
They say the same thing about her keeping part of Shep's old armor and it drives me crazy because i know for SURE if garrus/tali did that, they would not be calling them creepy, even though it makes the most sense for Liara to have it. also heaven forbid she cares a lot??
