they probably took the bigger photo just after they styled his hair, and the chibi one a few mins later than that. the sprout can be kept without appearing for just a few mins with hair gel, but after some time it just lifts on its own, breaking free from the gel (its alive)

Apart from “it just spawns” my advice is probs to start with his antennae. Draw them on a separate layer (because if they obscure the eyes and u need to fix them later ur practically fucked!) just kinda wing the back quickly till u like how it looks (sorry the vids are fast 😭)
