Today is the 50th anniversary of the publication of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" (1st pub'd in @rollingstone) and it also marks the release of my latest book. It's been an exhausting task but I am immensely proud of the result.

Two new books about Hunter S. Thompson. I have an essay in each of them. Very much looking forward to reading the other contributions, which all sound fantastic. Gonzo Studies is coming alive!

Submissions are open for Beatdom #25 for another 2 weeks. This is the San Francisco Renaissance issue. Details here: beatdom.substack.com/p/last-call-fo…
This is a great book. Someone asked me for a book recommendation today and I looked up the Amazon page for this and was surprised to see my own blurb in the synopsis. I stand by it. An excellent novel. Here's the link: amzn.to/3IkmJ8Z

“I’d read Kerouac when I was a teenager. That was profound... I immediately wanted to get on the road and start hitchhiking. And I did. I went all over—I went to Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas—just to get out there and see what it feels like. Everybody wants to try and jump off…
Allen Ginsberg was born #OnThisDay 99 years ago. I wrote one of these and edited the other three.

Recently received these two books about the incredible @CityLightsBooks Pocket Poets series. Can't wait to read them.

Apparently Skype is discontinued as of today. My computer tries to start it every time I turn the thing on, yet my account balance is in Korean Won... a currency I haven't used in more than 15 years. Guess I won't miss it.
Fifty-five years ago, Hunter S. Thompson created Gonzo journalism at the #KentuckyDerby quillette.com/2020/05/02/dec…
For those who want to know where Cardoso got the term "Gonzo," this essay explains: beatdom.substack.com/p/uncovering-t…
55 yrs ago, Hunter’s Derby piece - his radically honest, insanely hilarious prose was coined “Gonzo“ (by bill Cardoso). Hunter’s natural state of presence allowed him to see people & situations for what they were & the comic absurdity! Enjoy the race!love from Owl Farm! AT❤️
18 years ago this month, I founded @beatdomjournal. To date, we've published 24 issues and 22 books. There's plenty more coming in the next few years...

Here are the 5 writers who most influenced Hunter S. Thompson. Can you name them all from the photos? Details here: huntersthompson.substack.com/p/5-writers-wh…

The greatest novel ever written. It's not even close. Nothing comes near the perfection of Gatsby.
📚️ As we celebrate #NationalLibraryWeek, we mark 100 years of F. Scott Fitzgerald's THE GREAT GATSBY, first published #OTD in 1925. Libraries keep books alive & accessible. 📖 Read on the @InternetArchive ➡️ archive.org/details/the-gr… #Gatsby #Libraries #PublicDomain #Literature
