the restless reckless performance poet. food should be free. housing free. healthcare vision dental mental. education internet transport. let my people be free.
i am moving to bluesky in 2025. i'll still do a daily tweet here, but i'm gonna make this my pinned tweet so i'll log off here and go there.
human beings need a place. for privacy, safety, protection, relaxation. a place to be alone. and as george carlin put it, to keep our stuff.
just as humans need food, we need housing. a place to live. to eat, sleep, and dream. four walls, a roof, and a floor. a place to call home.

thus these become the important questions for us: what kind of a society do we want to live in? what kind of a society do we want to create?
i'm not saying you should just be able to waltz out of a supermarket with overflowing carts. but a decent society doesn't let people starve.

i do not support any system where the people in charge willfully allow people to starve just because they do not have money to pay for food.
omaha. gaza. sub-saharan africa. wherever. there is no excuse for letting any human being in the whole wide world go without food. not ever.
food should be free. nobody should go hungry. no one. never. no place. not ever. everybody should have a place where they can go and be fed.

there are a dozen things we should have done, and kept on doing, until covid was under control. but we did none well enough, or long enough.
covid wastewater had its biggest jump in months, as expected for the first week after 4th of july, but it is still low on an absolute basis.

just because we're all gonna die doesn't mean it's ok for you to kill me. you better know that if you come to kill me, you better watch out.
nobody should have to go hungry. absolutely nobody should ever starve to death. but nobody should even ever go hungry. we should feed 'em...
"which of these problems will be the one that takes down society?" short-term = covid medium-term = conservatives long-term = climate change
covid deniers are liars, easy to dispatch. minimizers are slick when they interact; they insist covid morgues are half empty, not half full.
if you talk about climate-change "by 2050", or "the end of the century", do not be surprised if people decide they have lots of time to act.
it's gonna take a month or two for the numbers to come in for this year, but here is the data for our first 5 years of covid deaths in july.

all the hot dogs have been eaten. and the fireworks are dark and silent. but the coney island nightmare of the mind has only now just begun.
this president and his party are cruel and stupid and insulting and awful and racist and sexist and xenophobic and must be slapped down now.
