This afternoon, as Trump prepares to sign the GOP murder bill into law, @realLandsEnd & I spoke alongside Vicky Osterweil at @socialismconf about the bill and the fight for health & disability justice under the current regime. Here are Bea and I’s remarks: blindarchive.substack.com/p/where-is-the…
We also get into the longer history of the Everglades which the Trump admin is portraying as empty wastes, the role of settler colonialism in shaping who is made disposable, and how environmental disaster and carceral expansion are being fused into a single governing logic.

Why is it so hard to imagine a world where care is free, universal & unconditional? Because the current system teaches us that care must be earned, health is a private matter, and dependence is failure. Health Communism traces the roots of that lie and how people have fought it.
Just few days ago kitchens were warning us that they’ll run out and we were expecting prices to go up further but instead Gaza ran out of rice completely. Up to this point, amount of rice given out was according to the amount available on the day. Donate: chuffed.org/project/help-u……

Water distributions by the Sameer Project continue. We did 215,000 liters in the South of Gaza with @Reviving_gaza over 10 days that ended today. The Reviving Gaza team distributed 20,000 liters a day for 10 days and finally today did an additional 15,000 liters in Khan Younis…
This is an excellent discussion! I especially loved the attention to the physical & conceptual landscape of the concentration camp: its place in the Everglades, the spectral terror of alligators. I would add one thing to the framework that @realLandsEnd & @melissagira use here:
On this week’s patron episode of Death Panel, I talk with @melissagira about her recent reporting on the new ICE camp just opened in the Everglades, and how it fits into a longer story of racialized detention, carceral infrastructure, and the theatrical production of cruelty.

In our latest, @melissagira joins to discuss “Alligator Alcatraz”: what it means under swelling ICE budgets, how it reflects a fascist fantasy of the landscape itself as an arm of carceral enforcement, and the long history of resistance on the same land patreon.com/posts/134133903
“It’s not just a symbol, it’s a threat; it’s an echo of every settler fantasy, every white supremacist dream that imagines the land itself as a weapon against the people that they want to disappear” — @realLandsEnd

the way COVID, policing/incarceration and genocide overlap is not abstract. the people most targeted by state violence are also most at risk from the worst COVID outcomes and that's not a coincidence. there's real harm in treating these as disparate struggles fought separately.
Just saw that a young man detained by ICE got covid and died back in April
