10 years ago we staged a photographic Exhibition in a derelict Street. Bringing people and life back into a place abandoned and to a street where people lived and loved, raised families and fostered a community.

Back in today the lads completed the clearance of the pensioners’ garden they had started yesterday. Fitted two safety lights brought all the cuttings to the recycling centre. Toughest one yet…

The lads completed another three older residents’ gardens tonight cutting back trees and bushes, mowing the grass, litter picking and bringing their outdoor spaces back to life. Fitted five safety lights. Fellas worked hard tonight.

Four young people started their paid work experience programme today in our social enterprise Cafe. Fourteen young workers will take part throughout July and August learning to bake and cook, handle payments and deal with customers…youth work done differently…

A residents garden and a public walkway this morning in the heat. Lads are off to the Bosco Cafe for a bit of lunch. Thanks for all the kind messages of support….

Lads did makeovers on 3 pensioners gardens tonight. Cut grass, cut back bushes and trees and fitted safety lights in each garden. A hell of a shift tonight, back out tomorrow morning and Thursday night.

Lads were out this morning and cut the grass and cleared the weeds around the grotto. Had them using petrol lawnmowers for the first time. People stop to chat and one fella bought them tins of juice and biscuits…

Lads out the morning doing some hedge trimming and power washing at the bottom of the road. Trying to vary the equipment they get to use, the type of work they do and the skills they gain.

The social enterprise strand of our work - the Bosco Cafe has been incredibly busy since re-opening after its partial re-fit. Squad of Young people starting their summer jobs from next week and we are moving to Summer opening hours from Monday coming.

A wee before and after from Saturdays clean up. This was this wee squads first crack at painting…fast learners.

Saturday morning with a little bit of weeding, cutting back bushes and painting out graffiti to spruce up the flats at the bottom the seven hills. The lads really took to the painting…

Out this morning in the heat, cleared up the old barrack wall at Lepper Street and an overgrown patch at the top of the New Lodge. Hard shift this morning, lads are learning how to work…

Photoshoot tonight with St Pats 2010’s - the team the Bosco Cafe sponsors. Artillery won a draw with Community Finance Ireland to nominate a sports team to receive a new kit and here we are…lads enjoying the spotlight.

Friday night at the Aviva Stadium with a wee squad to watch Ireland against Senegal. A couple of the lads are working with us in the morning although we’ll not get back until after midnight..should be some craic.

We were in tonight working on the Bosco Cafe’s renovation. It’s a measure of how far our wee social enterprise has become a New Lodge institution that we have customers threatening to wreck the place if we don’t hurry up and get it opened again 😃
