this applies to all forms of media. it’s non-english films/tv not being considered for oscars or emmys, the literary landscape being dominated by anglophone writers and publishing houses being unwilling to publish many translations (esp for genres outside of lit fic) list goes on
you know what pisses me off the most? critics and culture writers who can't seem to think beyond english speaking artists and filmmakers. it's a form of cultural white supremacy; it's literally our job to encourage curiosity but we equate 'quality' with eurocentrism.
The last part especially. The more we platform unqualified and untrained influencers, the more deserving people suffer and the quality of the output will also continue to deteriorate. Let's support real, credible, and hardworking journalists
