Congratulations to @adriellenazar who was conferred with her PhD @TUS_Athlone_ on Tuesday. I really enjoyed working the research on VR audio QOE as an co-advisor with @AdaptCentre colleagues @niallmurr and Ronan Flynn.
Over the next two days, we will confer 32 PhD graduates here in Athlone, among them Adrielle Moraes—the first TUS PhD from @AdaptCentre! 👏 Her research on sound perception in #VR could advance auditory testing & healthcare! #TUSGrad2024
Nobel Laureate @geoffreyhinton speaking at @ucddublin in April 2024, humbly acknowledges that his "success has been largely due to being able to recruit really brilliant graduate students. So one should never forget that in this field, it's the graduate students who do the work."
Really interesting changes in peer review policy at CVPR. Desk rejecting papers of highly irresponsible reviewers and a cap on papers you can submit (to 25). Imagine if the cap was just 3 - would people be more selective in their co-authorship? What effect on quality/quantity?
CVPR 2025 Changes. I wonder if the ML community (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR) will follow the second (desk reject the papers from bad reviewers) and the third (limit the number of papers an author can submit).
Busy kick-off to Interspeech 2024 in Kos. Asad is presenting his work on row resource speech models. @ISCAInterspeech @ml_labs_irl @qxlab
