@alexobenauer
I explore the interfaces with which we think & the future of personal computing. I also make books.
I have two things to share with you today. First, we're starting a publishing company. Second, I wrote a book about computing, which you can preorder starting today!

The system Smith went on to describe (for programming by demonstration) in part elicited some fascinating thoughts from Alan Kay:
There are some interesting answers to this question! Plan 9 had some ideas around distributed user environments and mechanisms for making use of the various computers and other devices from one space: youtube.com/watch?v=N3paky… What are some others?
great article thanks for sharing a question i keep asking myself - what would the user experience of an operating system look like if the internet was built into the machine rather than accessing it via a browser. same q for agents too.
I assume we all harbor pet theories that resolve the Fermi Paradox - what's yours?
What's the most likely answer to the Fermi Paradox for which we have evidence today?
The project that this evolved into is almost finished. Coming to an internet near you soon.
I ended up going a different direction for this, but just for fun: here was the original idea for what will be at [list.]wonderos.org sometime after the main site goes up.
Updated my website to begin surfacing more of the work that's remained buried multiple clicks deep, and to finally include a small 'about me' blurb. There's still more to bring to the surface, but I'll leave it here for now.

more apps need to talk to each other with simple interactions or as @alexobenauer calls it “donate” information i also think redefining the function/experience of the context menu at the os level for an app is key :)
Last year we were exploring how to "kill the app" at @inkandswitch. To start, I made this prototype... It explores an environment in which separate programs might "donate" certain data to the underlying substrate, and react to relevant data from nearby programs. Vids in replies
