My new book is out today! Hard to believe it all started seven years ago, when I visited a village on the banks of the Roosevelt River, in the southern reaches of the Amazon, home to an infamous Indigenous group known as the Cinta Larga...

I really enjoyed this conversation!
🚨🚨NEW @RadioWarNerd — We've often talked about the dire choices a people face when aliens land in their world. As in, there are no good choices. This ep we talk to Alex Cuadros about his fascinating book on the Cinta Larga tribe's contact with Brazilians in the 1960s. link⬇️
Big recommend for Alex Caudros' book, When We Sold God's Eye: Diamonds, Murder and A Clash of Worlds in the Amazon. The material alone is stunning, but Alex is a real writing talent, so it reads like a novel that happens to be entirely non-fiction.
For anyone familiar with Brazil's recent economic history, Trump's Liberation Day is awfully reminiscent of Collor's "confisco" in 1990 -- when people's savings accounts were frozen to fight hyperinflation (this failed spectacularly, and traumatized the entire country)
Thrilled to be in such excellent company as a finalist for the California Book Award!

I reviewed @alexcuadros's anti-Rousseauean portrait of how one indigenous group entered the illegal diamond trade (for better or worse).

I love that The Guardian found a Brazilian-Brit to narrate this excerpt of my book theguardian.com/news/audio/202…
If you want to make your author friend’s day, always send them a photo when you spot their book in a bookstore. All the better if it’s somewhere unexpected. Truly never gets old
