Worry a little bit every day and in a lifetime you will lose a couple of years. If something is wrong, fix it if you can. But train yourself not to worry: Worry never fixes anything.
It's this "be thankful" attitude that stifles improvement. In no other patient population would such side effects be tolerated. It's possible to be both grateful and still advocate for improvement.
I am so grateful to @ajsilverstein16 for what she has done. She has shined a beam of light onto the rot which has creeped into our field. I promise to try and do better for her.
And this is why spoke up. If we let this silence us, transplant life and survival will continue as it has for decades. I welcome all viewpoints. But I will not be silenced by them. #truthintransplant
they’re not “much better than before.” what drugs are you referring to specifically, the improved ones? she wrote this for the benefit of all transplant patients, to advocate for a better quality of life for us. nothing about this is “whiny” or incompatible with gratitude.

it does say a lot about you though, that you would come here to call a woman dying of cancer, brave enough to use her remaining time to do this advocacy & speak for thousands of us, “whiny” and “ungrateful”. unbelievable
Amy, The dialogue and awareness you have stoked is just another gift you have bestowed upon us. You’re an important writer and a remarkable person. ❤️ Lizzie’s little sister.
