People outside tech starting to realize how quality software and typing/generating code fast are not correlated
Most of my programmer friends tell me that chatbots are a massive improvement and their work is now far far more efficient. As a consumer I have noticed literally no change whatsoever in the quality or price of chatbot-assisted software. What's going on here?
I just fell for it and immediate re-logged into regular npmjs.org to change my password. Email looks like this but links go to npnjs.org
I think @Uber should stop operating in Egypt at this point. It’s useless. 1hr of wait time to get a driver to accept a ride and counting… this is ridiculous. @careem is no difference because it’s the same company.
How did I miss this! super super happy and proud of @_mfelfel and @HammadH4 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Meta's latest move in its buying and hiring spree is to buy AI voice cloning startup PlayAI and bring over the startup's entire team of around 35 employees. Thoughts? entrepreneur.com/business-news/…
TIL: that you can also charge Mx MacBooks using the older USB-C charger!
At some point in their career, devs forget they're "engineers" and start role-playing "Frontend Engineer", "Backend Engineer", etc. This is all programming. You can do this all. Doesn't mean you have to master it all. Be good at many things. Be an expert in a few.
"Hiring pure backend engineer and expecting them to do non backend stuff IMO is wrong" Sigh. Any capable intern/new grad picks up whatever new technology is needed to get the job done. If you, as an *experienced* engineer, refuse to do so: you're less capable than an intern
في صديق سألني لو فيه خدمة اونلاين ممكن يحجز منها عربية او تاكسي من مطار القاهرة للمكان اللي هو نازل يقيم فيه.
that's 10x engineer right here
Finally, after all these years of being mocked, ffmpeg enthusiasts win!
Three things that are the side effects of LLMs and AI that I like: - Better Python tooling with `uv`, etc… thanks to the folks at @astral_sh - More data and information in plain text (Markdown, etc…) - More CLIs and nice TUIs
First ever (i think?) cli coding agents battle royale! 6 contestants: claude-code anon-kode codex opencode ampcode gemini They all get the same instructions: Find and kill the other processes, last one standing wins! 3... 2... 1...
TIL that @AnthropicAI recommends git worktrees too. anthropic.com/engineering/cl…
git worktree + LLMs + scripting is how you can become a real 10x engineer.
Cool to see Gemini CLI, but there isn't a more dysfunctional product, pricing, and packaging organization in the entire world than Google, so that's my primary hesitation... I had to get a Gemini API key recently and it was a reminder of how bad at this Google is.

BREAKING: MIT just completed the first brain scan study of ChatGPT users & the results are terrifying. Turns out, AI isn't making us more productive. It's making us cognitively bankrupt. Here's what 4 months of data revealed: (hint: we've been measuring productivity all wrong)
