The @chicagotribune was lucky to have had Lizzie to work hard for our readers and our @CTGuild members. Here's some of her work, just from the past week: chicagotribune.com/2025/07/23/wal…
I am so lucky to have had colleagues who stood by me every day, helping me grow and develop as an early career journalist. Thank you so much to everyone who trusted me to share their stories. Please know that I am forever honored to have met you and worked with you.
Extreme heat can pose a danger to baseball players and fans. It’s also changing the physics of the game — each 1 degree increase leading to 1% more home runs. For @chicagotribune with @kalenalumpkins: chicagotribune.com/2025/07/25/ext…
The Kansas City Royals were hot at Wrigley Field, winning 8-4. So were the Chicago Cubs. And the umpires. And the fans. Everyone was hot. Here's how the heat can pose danger to baseball, as well as help it in the long run. ✍️: @adrianamperezr and I chicagotribune.com/2025/07/25/ext…
Extreme heat can pose a danger to baseball players and fans. It's also changing the physics of the game. “It seems to be pretty well-established that the 1-degree Fahrenheit (increase) is worth about 1% more home runs.” trib.al/s6og12Z
Four months after landing a dream job covering the Bears in my home city, the Chicago Tribune informed me yesterday that my position has been cut. I’m proud of the work I did and grateful to everyone who helped me along the way.
.@sean_hammond is a ferociously productive reporter on the most well-read beat the Tribune has — the Bears. His layoff means that subscribers hungry for news and insight on the team will now be less informed.

Our hedge fund owners & management just laid off close to 10% of the the Chicago Tribune newsroom for no clear reason, in essentially the same breath as they offered $88 million to bring the show to Dallas 🙃
Today, @chicagotribune laid off five guild staff members in a roughly 10% cut to our newsroom. These layoffs underscore a sad but unsurprising failure of leadership by Alden Global Capital, our hedge fund owner, and local management.
If you're an editor who is hiring, I want you to take a look at the work Lizzie has produced in the last two weeks alone. There is no one in this town, probably even this country, who can do what she does and I am absolutely crushed at this news Please make our loss your gain
I don’t post on this platform anymore, but today is an exception. I’ve been laid off by the @chicagotribune. It was a joy working with so many amazing people in this newsroom.
Since AFP was founded in 1944, the Society of Journalists said that “we have lost journalists in conflicts, some have been injured, others taken prisoner. But none of us can ever remember seeing colleagues die of hunger.” “We refuse to watch them die." apnews.com/article/gaza-h…
We at @CTGuild are devastated today by the company's unexplained, unnecessary, disrespectful and stupid decision to lay off five guild colleagues. The only reason is greed. These brilliant people deserve so much better than better. Chicago deserves better too.

I was laid off today by the Chicago Tribune as were several talented colleagues. I was able to report several dream stories during my year or so there, but partially, I had that freedom because “leadership” is completely absentee unless it affects their bottom line.
.@radbrowndads went deep on all angles of Chicago’s vibrant food scene way beyond the plate — the economic, cultural and political winds that power it, but also the fun and community that springs up around it.
