Who is eating up our mountains? 😢 Assam-Meghalaya borderlands.

Best bird watching spot for beginners for me would be Garbhanga Reserve Forest, Deepor Beel and Pobitora wildlife sanctuary. One trip to each of these places during the birding hours and one can easily see up to a 100 species. All the places are easily accessible - v close to Ghy
A thread 🧵 Best Birdwatching spots in India for Beginners
To those asking why Ahoms have so few ancient monuments - well many monuments were pulled down & the bricks were used in many Tea company buildings. If I’m not wrong, Maniram Dewan once openly expressed his outrage about this.
Ahom era bricks were also used in making of many colonial buildings in Assam.
Sunday afternoon, just sit down on a rock and watch a game of archery! 🏹

You may call me biased but the Shillong plateau landscape is unparalleled in India.

In the middle of nowhere, especially when you’re hungry, and you know there’s a crazy traffic jam waiting for you on the outskirts of Shillong. Kong Susie’s German restaurant is a delight! She was glad to see me as always! Mawngap village, Monsoon ‘25!

Another football match! This time it’s on the outskirts of the old village of Nongkhlaw! The great U Tirot Sing was the chief of Nongkhlaw! It’s such a pretty little village but barely anybody visits it.

Today I took an alternate route to Shillong via Jirang-Patharkhamah-Nongkhlaw and Mairang! Good God, I must say, it’s stunning!!

Brahmaputra basin from the edge of Khasi hills! Assam-Meghalaya border.

Just a random football match on the outskirts of Guwahati.

I travelled less than 10 kms from my home in the middle of the capital & reached this place in the middle of lush tropical jungles. That’s the beauty of Guwahati 😇

The broken bridge near bessy beach🥲
I'll never get tired of this view!
Thinking of buying a Sony a6700 + 70-350mm Sony lens for birding & wildlife photography! Experts please comment if it’s a good choice or if there are any better alternatives.
This sunset is the only delight in this hugely deficit monsoon in Guwahati. Another year of below normal rainfall in NE. The question is how many more?

Vast expanse of short grass, Brahmaputra valley, hot day during peak monsoon. 2025.

There’s an old saying, “the Assamese only buy 2 things - kerosene and salt.”Rest everything we need grows in our backyard! However, with time, this has changed but we must revive these practices - this will help regain lost biodiversity, esp. medicinal plants & herbs.
Morning harvest in a small village compound(Assamese Bari). If we work we can grow many things organically in our little residential compound. #Organic #Vegetables #Fruits
