The fragmentation and alienation of not getting to be part of a culture is a lot for most people to endure which is why those who value conformity will compulsively try to either worship or eject those who don't constantly.

Whenever I meet someone into growth hacking, I tell them consumer social apps need to be blindfolded or they'll run straight into causing psychological issues for children. And that's usually the end of the conversation.

I think low disgust response is underrated as a source of "moral privilege" - almost all moral judgements motivated by disgust are wrong, so by not feeling it in the first place you get huge moral wins for free. No need to practice tolerance if you're already cool with stuff!
