Very happy to share our latest research on microtubule severing ⚔️ in sperm production This paper began as a hunt for the ‘missing’ katanin enzyme in male meiosis.. but ended up leading to a lot more cool discoveries than we initially expected. Check it out below 👇🏻
The katanin A-subunits KATNA1 and KATNAL1 act co-operatively in mammalian meiosis and spermiogenesis to achieve male fertility Read this #OpenAccess Research Article by Jessica Dunleavy @_jessdunleavy_ ,Moira O'Bryan @OBryanMoira and colleagues: journals.biologists.com/dev/article/15…
The first (of a few) beautiful studies from @GemmaStathatos’ PhD work is out now in @emboreports 👏👏 If you are interested in learning about the importance of non-canonical tubulins in male germ cell development check it out 👇
Excited to share that our latest work examining the microtubule cytoskeleton is out! 🎉 🎉 We show that epsilon tubulin is a small, but mighty player in sperm production 💪 Check it out now ⤵️ embopress.org/doi/full/10.10…
🚨 New paper from the Male Infertility and Germ Cell Biology lab We have identified a new regulator of protein entry into the sperm tail - CEP76 life-science-alliance.org/content/7/6/e2… @BioSci_UniMelb @OBryanMoira

Thank you @ReproductionSRB for another amazing meeting 🙌 A definite highlight was getting to share the @MaleBCNow Abstract Award with my scientific partner in crime @biolbrend 🥳
Congrats to all the SRB winners tonight….including the David Healy Award winner Ellen Jarred, ART Awardee Jess Mulhall, Emerging Research Leader Elena Tucker 👏👏👏👏 @ReproductionSRB

Important paper for male infertility research @ReproductionSRB
Male infertility is a growing problem worldwide – and in most cases, we don’t know the cause or how to treat it. A global team of experts, led by @SciMelb Dean @OBryanMoira, just made ten crucial recommendations to tackle the problem in @NatRevUrol → unimelb.me/48Os94K
Count down is on for #ARU2023 🙌 super excited to be a part of this stellar #repro line-up 🤩
The #ARU2023 FESTIVAL OF REPRODUCTION is fast approaching - EARLY BIRD closes tomorrow!!! You don’t want to miss out. Announcing more of the incredible line-up in the #SeedsOfLife session: Beth Allison, Amy Winship & Jess Dunleavy @DrTKaituuLino Tickets 👉🏼 mercyperinatal.com/event/australi…
It’s #EMmonday & we’re looking at the role of spastin in nuclear integrity during spermatid elongation. @samrcheers, @OBryanMoira @_jessdunleavy_ et al. find that spastin plays an essential role in the development & function of male gametes. @Dev_journal: journals.biologists.com/dev/article/15…
Very proud supervisor - @samrcheers’ lovely PhD work defining the role of microtubule severing enzyme #spastin in spermatogenesis is out in @Dev_journal today 🙌🎉 @OBryanMoira @BioSci_UniMelb @Bio21Institute @TravisKJohnson journals.biologists.com/dev/article/15…
Very excited about this work - take a look at how the centriole/transition zone protein CEP76 is essential for sperm tail development and male fertility

Very thankful this #SRB2022 for my amazing teammates who stepped in last minute while I was unwell! Especially @samrcheers who took on my presentation with less than 24 hours notice, plus @biolbrend and @GemmaStathatos for chairing sessions 🙏

The closing plenary of the 2022 @ReproductionSRB conference lead by @AJ_Pask ! An outstanding program of work into how endocrine disrupting chemicals compromise reproductive health
Not an ECR anymore but still lots to be learned around equity, diversity and inclusion in research; who better to help us on the path than @DrNatHannan @ESASRB @ReproductionSRB 🙏🏻🙏🏻
An incredibly eloquent session from @ToombsM1 @Dr_K_Pringle @j_legrice & Cam Young (loving every tangent) on how to respectfully include Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islanders, Māori & Pasifika communities in research, & how to translate findings into benefits for the community.
