Feeling accomplished 😊 biscuits & scones were baked earlier, potato salad and banana pudding are made (currently taking a fridge nap), and the pinto beans are cooking. Husband is smoking ribs. My guys will eat good tonight.

And that’s a wrap on my full day of baking! Sourdough honey buns are finished and cooling down. Spirals aren’t as tight as I would have liked. This was the softest dough ever. I will increase the amount of flour a bit next time. They were a booger to roll up.

Had a brief but intense storm pop up while finishing the Maritozzi. Beautiful rainbow as the sun set afterwards. The buns turned out great! The orange peel adds a delightful pop of flavor. Next time I’ll skip the egg wash and brush with a simple syrup after baking.

Busy day playing w/dough. Brioche loaf (left), rye/wheat/white sandwich loaf (right), Maritozzi dough almost ready, waffle batter fermenting, stiff starter for honey buns getting bubbly. Goimg to AL tomorrow for the week to help w/grandbaby & dog. Setting up my guys with goodies.

Sourdough Marizotti dough is coming along. Just did the stretch and fold. Will check on it in 3-4 hrs and if it’s doubled it will go into the fridge for 8-12hrs. The dehydrated orange peel makes it smell amazing!

Our 15yr old takes an aviation class at his HS. Today he got to go up with a flight instructor and fly over our town. He thought the professional simulator in class was fun, I think he’s definitely hooked now.

Good Saturday morning! The sun is shining, the coffee is hot, and the sourdough cinnamon swirl coffee cake muffins have cooled down enough for my guys to enjoy. Hope you have a good one!

Sometimes I listen to solfeggio frequencies to fall asleep. They work, my brain relaxes and I sleep, but I have noticed that when I do I have extremely vivid and wildly bizarre/strange dreams. I don’t remember the entire dream, just the WTF parts. Anyone else experience similar?

I hope they can find these kids. This hurts my heart. I can’t imagine calling a hotline for help and the call going unanswered. One employee for the hotline? That’s insane.

My husband was sad he missed out on the last batch of crackers I made. So today I’m making more! A bit different this time. 50/50 whole wheat & bread flour starter base. AP flour in the dough. Italian herb infused olive oil and onion powder added instead of fresh rosemary.

I’ve seen a few posts about trees turning early and thought wow, that’s wild. On my morning dog walk I noticed a few trees turning. I do not recall ever seeing trees turn in July. Just b/c I love seeing them, I’m adding a picture of the little herd of deer I see every morning😊

1/6-1/4mi from usual grazing area. Little baby froze when it saw our dogs. No sign of mama. Don’t normally see deer, or fawns, this far from their grazing area at the tree line. Super cute though!

Sweet & sticky baked chicken drumsticks. We like to buy 10lb bags of leg quarters and drumsticks. I’ll stock up when they are on sale. Can’t beat a budget friendly protein that cooks up quick.

First time I’ve had late flowering and berries on the blackberry in the front yard. Wasn’t sure this guy was going to make it but it seems to have found a second wind. It’s finally growing second yr canes and they flowered! Better late than never I suppose.
