Fantastic views of Curlew Sandpipers y'day at @RSPBFrampton with the majority of the flock being on Middle Scrape, reserve management at it's finest🤌 @RareBirdAlertUK
Great to see so many Eastern Subalpine Warblers whilst on Lesvos, wherever we visited, they were present. This particular male by Molivos Reservoir was particularly showy. macaulaylibrary.org/asset/636768145

Assuming a journey at sea, a Storm Petrel ringed at Portland Bird Observatory at 02:00 yesterday, and with us at 02:45 this morning, had put in a pretty swift 450km
Not often you're treated to views like this, local juvenile Goshawk causing chaos with Magpies this evening in the garden! South Wales continues to produce. macaulaylibrary.org/asset/639114256

Chaos erupts in the garden this evening, when this juvenile Goshawk chases a family group of Magpies. Good to know they've successfully fledged chicks this year.

The wader passage well & truly started, more regular trips to @RSPBFrampton will be taking place over high tides. The star was seeing the Norwegian ringed Spotshank (CEV) for another year along with 10 CR Black-tailed Godwits. 72 species in total. ebird.org/checklist/S260…

Evening spent at @RSPBFrampton for the Collared Pratincole, now my 40th wader species for the reserve. Still needing "easy" species such as Dotterel, American Golden Plover & Grey Phalarope before it becomes harder.

The original drawing is still looking for a home so if you’re interested please let me know!! ruths-portraits.com/product-page/n…
Adding the final touches to our Lesvos trip report, this Olive-tree Warbler was a personal highlight. Occasionally, having fight a pair of Masked Shrikes off. Really showing their size macaulaylibrary.org/asset/636629506

Worth the dash up to Flamborough yesterday evening, the Song Sparrow showed well on occasions when it was feeding the gully by Thornwick Bay Cafe. macaulaylibrary.org/asset/637404454

Red-flanked Bluetail singing on its breeding grounds in Finland. (iPhone video). Great way to start the day. Some good other stuff as well. Crossbill, Northern Bullfinch, Waxwing, Redpoll, Cuckoo, Pied Fly, Redstart, Willow Tit, Tree Pipit, Brambling, Greenshank, Whooper Swan.
As our trip to Lesvos ended we got lovely views of this Long-eared Owl family. Such characters. Quite content in this park neighbouring onto the local school.

Couldn't resist posting more photos of the Eurasian Bittern from earlier this week. Patience paid off as he walked out from the reeds and into the open.

Dream views yesterday of this Bittern, watching it feed along the waters edge and catching a small Pike. Couldn't ask for much better, whilst several others were booming in the background.

European Bee-eater Like most other Mediterranean counties, wherever we visited on Lesvos. The Bee-eaters were always present. Such stunning birds. macaulaylibrary.org/asset/636538193

Gamble on the weather paid off, successful trip into the Peak District. Redstart, Ring Ouzel & Wood Warbler showing very well alongside Red Grouse & Whinchat.

It’s been so dry recently that even the local beavers are praying for rain!😂River Otter last week, Budleigh Salterton @DevonBeavers
There was plenty of nest maintenance from the Spoonbill pair at Abberton this afternoon
Whilst exploring the area of Faneromeni on the western side of the island, this Long-legged Buzzard soared over our heads before flying out to sea. One of five individuals we saw on our trip. macaulaylibrary.org/asset/636237887

They may have been a regular species to most river systems during our trip to Lesvos, but we always stopped to appreciate a Little Bittern. This male in particular showed very well feeding by the lower ford along the Tsiknias River. macaulaylibrary.org/asset/636093648

Black-headed Bunting. One of the commonest species we encountered on Lesvos but that didn't take away from how smart these birds were with their buzzy song. macaulaylibrary.org/asset/636237720
