I had the pleasure of presenting part of my PhD research on individual decision-making during flood & bushfire evacuations at the 2025 @ANZDMC on the Gold Coast. Grateful for the great engagement and encouraging feedback I received during and after my talk @HazardsResearch @UNSW



Delighted to share part of my PhD research, recently published in #IJDRR. The paper introduces validated self-assessment tools to measure individuals’ preparedness for flood and bushfire emergencies. Grateful to my supervisors Taha H. Rashidi, Moe Mojtahedi, and @Milad_Haghani.

🌏🎤I had the opportunity to present part of my PhD research at the 2025 @WorldBosaiForum in Sendai, Japan! Gained insights from📚innovative disaster education methods, 🕶️VR simulations, 🏛️site visits & 🍱emergency preparedness food. Grateful for this experience!

As widespread wet weather hits the eastern states, flood warnings are in place 🌧 Floodwater? Back. It. Up. ✋🛑 @bnhcrc researched why people drive through floodwater and developed ways to better communicate flood risk: youtube.com/watch?v=qxOydB…
Research shows that the safest advice is to never drive through floodwater. Even if it looks safe, as little as 15 cm of water can float a car.
