The term โJRPGโ doesnโt really exist in Japan. To most they are all just RPGs. Sometimes it the term is used in marketing for Japanese RPGs but itโs really a term that originates from the west. So I guess itโs for western media to decide what the term actually means imo.
Just because Sea of Stars, Eternights, and Clair Obscur werenโt made in Japan doesnโt mean theyโre not real JRPGs. They capture everything that makes the genre special โ story, style, and soul. JRPG is a style of RPG these days, not necessarily a place of origin. Thoughts?
