Experimenting with different X65 video modes and automated conversion using converter: github.com/X65/tools/blob… It does show that this game originally used tile-based graphics.
With all the recent software development done on the Emulator, I need to remind that every X65 feature was hardware-prototyped and validated first. See the YT channel youtube.com/@X65pc - the videos there are camera-recorded or frame-grabbed off the real prototype hardware.
One of the defining features of X65 is that its memory is uniform and shared between CPU and VPU, like in the old days of 8-bit machines. This video demonstrates direct editing of RAM using debugger window and it affecting the video memory directly.
