Carlos Santana was born OTD July 20, 1947. Scott Weiland collaborated with Santana to cover The Rolling Stones’ “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking.” The song appears on Santana’s cover album “Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time,” released September 21, 2010.
Chris Cornell was born OTD July 20, 1964. Cornell dedicated “Say Hello 2 Heaven” to Scott Weiland during a concert on December 4, 2015, at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne, Australia, the night after Weiland’s death.
Chester Bennington was found dead OTD July 20, 2017, at the age of 41. In 2013, after Weiland was fired from STP, Chester stepped in as the new frontman. Bennington told Rolling Stone “I do my best to honor the legacy of the music.”



“Vasoline” was officially released as a single OTD July 18, 1994. It was the second single from their sophomore album “Purple.” The inspiration for the song title, came from Weiland mishearing the lyrics to Eagles’ song, “Life in the Fast Lane” as “Flies in the Vasoline.”
