Went live with the survey last week & already been sent a pic of Orobanche parasitising legume species in an AB15 scheme. Is the increased use of compatible host species in schemes like AB15 leading to more parasitic weeds on farm? Give us your feedback tinyurl.com/parasiticweeds
@GoodgerSimon great quiz this week!! If you get a chance help us to define our current understanding of parasitic weeds and their potential threat. We really want feedback if you don't know anything about these weeds as well as from people who have already seen them on farm.
We're on the lookout for suitable grassland fields that have ragwort - not flowering, but at the same/similar growth stages as the image. If you have some, and not a million miles from us in Angus (we will travel within reason😊), then call us on 01356 650459 and speak to Graham.
📅Mid-July is the right time to collect blackgrass or #ItalianRyegrass seeds to test for #herbicide resistance 🌾🔍 #Blackgrass seed is ready when the plant is 10-20% shedding. ➡️Find out more about how to collect a sample & order a resistance test - adas.co.uk/grass-weed-her…

Great time of yr for weed scientists Not least because we get to say I told you so - Here's a barnyard grass infestation in an Onion crop For the absence of any doubt this species should not be present in any seed used on farm no matter how cheap The fact it is is utter madness

This evening I was collecting Rye Brome seeds while being chased out of the field by a combine! Harvest is really moving on so planning seed collection for herbicide resistance testing needs to happen early this year Information about testing ... adas.co.uk/services/herbi…

Lots of great stuff again at this years Groundswell but the data mountain being assimilated by the excellent Dr @davidpurdysoils at the Lamport Project stands out as some of the most insightful for our farming, showing that we can make big gains in soil health & control b/grass👍
It was fantastic having Lincolnshire arable farmer Colin Chappell on the stand to chat about why he adopted #climate smart farming practices & the @ClimateFarmDemo project 🌼
The best weed control machines at @Groundswellaguk are the white ones with four legs and the bigger ones across the valley, also with four legs
Perennial weed management session is underway. Some top facts on dock biology - one plant can produce 60,000 seeds.. #groundswell25 @ADASGroup @lynntatnell1
If you're at @Groundswellaguk tomorrow have a look at some of those alternative approaches to weed management .. examples right across the show but @garfordrobocrop stand a good place to start. - Harvest weed seed control - Weed surfing - Electric weeding - Inter-row cultivation
Great panel discussion at @AHDB_Cereals stand with @hanslope @AgricWill and @garfordrobocrop. Weed seedbanks and diversifying the tools we use to manage weeds effectively. If you're interested in alternative weed management tools @OPER8_EU is the first place to go.

Day 1 @Groundswellaguk off to a great start! Thank you to everyone we chatted to today. Tomorrow we will have some new & familiar faces on the stand, incl. 2 special guests at 2pm - @ClimateFarmDemo farmers Colin Chappell & Andrew Jackson. Time for a 🍻See y'all tomorrow! 👋
It's tomorrow @Groundswellaguk!🥳 Find us in the Demo Field at our soil pit with @Soil_Science. Our soils, crop physiology, crop pathology & weed science teams will be there tomorrow, ready to field your questions. We're also on the BASIS Knowledge Trail ⬅️ See you there! 👋
🌱 Let's get back to basics: @WeedSciJohn shares tips on effective weed control and the factors you need to consider when spraying. 🎥 Watch the full video for practical advice. @ADASGroup
Final call! ⏰ 💻 Join our webinar 'The Nutrient Benefits of #CoverCrops' 12pm-1pm TODAY with soil scientists @anne_bhogal, @rachelthorman1 & @KateESmith11 to learn about cover crop nitrogen release, & effect on #nitrate leaching & crop performance 🌾 ➡️ adas.co.uk/events/the-nut…
Indeed - the decision when to plough as an appropriate management tool needs as much consideration as an appropriate herbicide strategy 👍
At the TMAF innovation day yesterday; a chance to talk about integrating non-chemical control into conventional arable rotations Part of @AHDB_Cereals Strategic Farm East .. always grateful to @garfordrobocrop for the loan of their amazing robocrop inter-row cultivator.
