Today marks a century since the unfortunate passing of PC WIlliam Thomas Corbett, who was on duty in Calthorpe Park when he was struck by lightning during a severe thunderstorm. A benefit concert was held in November of the same year for his family.

50 years ago PC David Green, aged just 20, was fatally stabbed on duty. David had been called to a disturbance outside a dance hall when he was attacked by a group of youths and stabbed by 20 year old Demond Wilson. Wilson received life imprisonment for the callous attack

On this day 70 years ago a tragic road accident led to the death of PC John Bamford Marley Marley and two other officers, George Abbott and Ronald Wooding, were treated in hospital, but sadly Marley succumbed to his injuries.

Over its 125 years as a Lock-Up surprisingly little changed in our Victorian building - but one secret was hidden away It wasn't until a photograph of the charge desk area was found, showing a window to the rest of the building, that we knew it even existed!
