Full day of switching to a flip phone: - harvested pounds of cucumbers - finished 2 books I’ve been meaning to finish - redid the landscaping in front of the old church rectory - napped - stared at some sheep I feel better, more human even.
Anyone have a guide on how to build a small shrine for an icon? I want to cover the woods behind the farm with these.

I’d like to argue that children understand the Gospel better than most adults do. Not due to intellectual prowess but humility of heart. “Truly I say to you, unless you change and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Not that it's impossible, but I doubt most children truly understand the gospel.

In the evangelical/charismatic world, it’s almost a badge of honor to get as sacrilegious as you can. The more flippant you are about matters of God, the more “grace” you are walking in. I wish I was kidding…

Seeing all the first responders in the town wrap their fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars around the block to get blessed by the priest kinda did something to me. Gave me a taste of what American Orthodoxy could look like.

I noticed something new today. When I doom scroll on this app, my body locks up. My breathing is short. My shoulders rise up. My jaw tightens. Are our phones really just little anxiety/stress boxes we carry around all day?

I had some inspiration today: start a non-profit called “OrthoBros” where guys from the parish volunteer a few hours a week doing yardwork and basic maintenance for older people in the parish and wider community.
