Some of our students and faculty had the opportunity for inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) training last week, an instrument that allows for elemental analyses of samples in geology and environmental science. @ArtsSciencesUT

Learning to read scientific papers is a critical skill for our students, as is the ability to communicate data in more approachable ways! Our Paleoecology students (EEPS 423/523) made visual abstracts summarizing works that they read. Can you tell what they read about? #scicomm

Recently students in Limnology (EEPS 469/569) sampled and analyzed water from around our region, including an urban stream near campus, a headwater stream in the Smokies, and the KUB drinking water plant. #thirstythursday

Our Alumni Advisory Board held its Spring Board meeting on campus last Friday followed by a field trip to @IjamsNatureCtr. Current GTAs, George Denny and Lili Binetti, took them through our EEPS 101 field trip emphasizing the structure, sedimentary systems, and economic geology.
