Celebrating 249 Years of Independence! USS Constitution got underway today in honor of Independence Day, proudly sailing through Boston Harbor with our crew and special guests aboard.




USS Constitution is scheduled to get underway this Friday from the Charlestown Navy Yard at 10 a.m. A 21-gun salute will be fired at approximately 11:30 a.m., viewable from Fort Independence on Castle Island. USS Constitution will reopen for public visitation at 3 p.m.

Today, USS Constitution got underway to honor the 81st anniversary of D-Day. On June 6, 1944, Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy in the largest seaborne invasion in history—launching Operation Overlord to liberate Nazi-occupied France.

USS Constitution will go underway on Friday, June 6 at 10 a.m.—visible from Boston Harborwalk, Castle Island & Charlestown Navy Yard. A 21-gun salute will happen at approximately 11:30 a.m. from Fort Independence. The ship will open for public tours at 3 p.m. #USSConstitution
This past Memorial Day, Cmdr. Crystal Schaefer, 78th Commanding Officer of USS Constitution, spoke at a Memorial Day service in Medford, WI. Following the ceremony, Cmdr. Schaefer was privileged to meet John McMurry, the last surviving WWII veteran in Taylor County, WI.



On this Memorial Day, USS Constitution’s crew honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. We will always remember them.

May 8, 1945—a day the world exhaled. On the 80th anniversary of Victory Day for WWII, USS Constitution hosted an event honoring the end of the war in Europe, joined by consuls from Allied nations. We remember, we unite, we stand for peace.
