This month SCMB hosted the inaugural Chemistry Winter School for Year 11 high school students. 78 attendees from across SE, Central and North Queensland participated in interactive workshops and laboratories and attended lectures presented by academic staff.




SCMB's Prof @DWatterson_ & Dr Ariel Isaacs have identified the first ever nanobody to work against Hendra & Nipah viruses by blocking their ability to enter cells. Both are highly lethal viruses that currently have no approved vaccine or cure. More here - tinyurl.com/23yu6kkv

Last Saturday, SCMB hosted the high school teams competing in the Titration Competition, 69 students registered. A great morning was had by all. Congrats to the winning team, Marist College, Ashgrove! Thanks to the SCMB students & staff who volunteered to help support the event.

This week we welcomed our new postgraduate coursework students in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. Many are from overseas and we wish them well in their time in Australia. And we wish all students in the three cohorts the best for their studies.
