@UNOPS_Chief
@UNOPS Executive Director & @UN Under-Secretary-General. Leading UNOPS work to deliver #PracticalSolutions where needs are greatest.
My friend Ambassador @BobRae48, President of @UNECOSOC, has been key to shaping the Compromiso de Sevilla. Grateful for his leadership. We had a great meeting today on the future of development cooperation and Canada–@UNOPS collaboration in fragile contexts. #FfD4 #SDGs

Today I spoke at the South-South Cooperation on Green Investment & Finance session by BRIGC. Developing countries need $2.4T/year on climate action. We must align all development finance with climate action & translate it into tangible results through high impact projects #FfD4

Reports in that @UNOPS premises in central #Gaza was struck today. My immense gratitude & thoughts are with colleagues supporting humanitarian operations in such difficult times. Aid workers must be protected & all parties must abide by international humanitarian law.

The 2025 SDG Report makes clear: we are off track. But infrastructure and public procurement are important levers of influence over the #GlobalGoals. @UNOPS is using both to help countries accelerate sustainable, inclusive development and achieve the #2030Agenda.
The Sustainable Development Goals Report is a call to action – together, we can build the sustainable future everyone everywhere deserves. But only 35% of the #GlobalGoals targets are on track. Progress is still possible, but we must act with urgency, unity & unwavering…
My @UNOPS colleagues are continuing to deliver fuel across #Gaza, reaching the north this morning. Fuel is vital: without it, water can't be desalinated, hospitals lose power, bakeries stop. This is the lifeline for survival.

Karuna Herrmann, Director of UNOPS Jerusalem, told @BBCNews that only a third of needed fuel is entering Gaza. "If fuel runs out, the consequences are severe and immediate." Water plants shut down, newborns die, sewage floods the streets.

A small amount of fuel entered #Gaza for first time in 130 days – but it's far less than daily needs for critical aid. I join @UN colleagues & partners to stress: #Gaza needs sufficient, consistent fuel to sustain life-saving operations. Joint statement:unops.org/news-and-stori…
For the first time since the ceasefire, @UNOPS has been able to bring fuel into #Gaza. 150k litres over 2 days. A critical step, but still just one-third of what’s needed daily. Humanitarian operations remain at risk without sustained and sufficient fuel access.

Access to education #SDG4 multiplies all #SDGs. In my meeting w/ Minister of Education of São Tomé e Príncipe, Isabel Viegas de Abreu, I was glad to learn key pillars of policy reforms and discuss potential collaboration with @UNOPS on rehabilitation and construction of schools.

Very practical and results-oriented meetings w/ Minister of Agriculture, Nilton Pontes, and Minister of Infrastructure, Nelson Cardoso, of São Tomé e Príncipe. @UNOPS is ready to support the government on the construction of key infrastructure: electricity, ports, roads, water.

Excellent meeting w/ HE Carlos Vila Nova, President of São Tomé e Príncipe. Sao Tome e Príncipe has been championing the green & blue economy & leading #SDGs. But is also facing challenges due to climate change & access to infrastructure. @UNOPS is ready to boost our partnership.

In today’s meeting with Minister of Health, Celso Matos, we discussed the results of health reforms in São Tomé e Príncipe, and concrete options for partnership w/ @UNOPS on construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure, solarization of hospitals & procurement of medicines

Very productive meeting w/ Ilza Vaz, Minister Foreign Affairs, São Tomé e Príncipe. #SIDS are disproportionally affected by climate change & only receive 2% of climate finance. It is time to boost global solidarity w/ #SIDS in line with recent agreements in Antigua, Nice &Sevilla

Very productive meeting w/ Gareth Gaudalupe, Minister of Finance & Economy of São-Tomé-e-Príncipe. The sustainability & competitiveness on tourism, agriculture, fisheries ultimately depends on infrastructure & procurement. We discussed concrete projects & partnership with @UNOPS.

Excellent meeting with HE Americo Ramos, Prime-Minister of São-Tomé-e-Príncipe, discussing sustainable development, climate action & potential collaboration with @UNOPS on sustainable procurement and resilient infrastructure on: health, energy, transportation, blue&green economy

Fuel hasn’t entered Gaza in 17+ weeks. @UNOPS teams are distributing the last 150k L as hospitals, water systems & bakeries shut down. We urge immediate fuel access, sustained aid, a permanent ceasefire & unconditional release of hostages. Statement: unops.org/news-and-stori…
🤝New agreement: @UNOPS to work with @ProsvjetaCG to assess school infrastructure in 🇲🇪Montenegro and prepare key investment projects. We are investing into the future: making sure young generations have the skills to build a better world. @EUAmbME @UN_Montenegro @UNOPS_Serbia
In #Montenegro, we're teaming up with @EIB & the govt to enhance the country's education sector & improve learning conditions for around 11.5K students 🏫 Read more: bit.ly/4kG5YCJ | #SDG4
The $4.3T #SDG finance gap won’t be closed by money alone. At #FfD4, @UNOPS made it clear: implementation is key. We stand ready to help partners translate finance into lasting, inclusive impact, through infrastructure, procurement, and capacity that delivers impact.
