UNAIDS warns that without restored funding, HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths could rise by 2029. Countries and communities are showing resilience. But global solidarity and renewed donor support are vital as countries move towards self-financing and lasting solutions.
40.8 million people were living with HIV globally, in 2024. With funding for the global HIV response declining, we risk seeing this number rise, reversing years of progress. We cannot afford more new HIV infections. #GlobalAIDSUpdate2015

Last year the world saw 3,500 people newly infected with HIV every day. Today, @UNAIDS estimates that has grown to 5,800 new infections daily, up by more than 2,000 per day. Progress in the global #HIVresponse has stalled, our gains are in reverse. #EndAIDS
