UMAW is thrilled to share what we’ve been working on for the last few years: The Living Wage for Musicians Act, with co-lead sponsors @RepRashida and @JamaalBowmanNY 💪 weareumaw.org/make-streaming…

Xiu Xiu and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have both removed their music from Spotify to protest Daniel Ek’s investment and involvement in AI military technology. Musicians don’t want our art funding the war machine! Daniel Ek, do you see the trend?

UMAW stands in solidarity with World Cafe Live workers in Philadelphia! Staff are citing wage disruption, a hostile work environment, and senior staff being pushed out of their jobs as reasons for the protest. Venue workers deserve fair pay and fair treatment.💪

Yet another slimy statement from the company that controls the dominant share of streaming. Daniel Ek won’t protect musicians against AI — his “philosophical” question diminishes the real work that real artists do every day, as do Spotify’s poverty-wage payouts. We need the LWMA!

New York City Council (@NYCCouncil) has passed a new resolution calling for fair pay for artists in music streaming. ra.co/news/82886
Congratulations to @CMShahanaHanif, @UMAW_, and the New York City Council for passing Resolution 368 calling for fair pay for artists and endorsing our Living Wage for Musicians Act! We must work across all levels of gov't to secure the economic justice our communities deserve.
BREAKING: Resolution 368 PASSES! Thank you @CMShahanaHanif for sponsoring the resolution in support of the Living Wage for Musicians Act 💪
Big thanks to @UMAW_ for their tireless organizing to get this across the finish line. Passing the Living Wage for Musicians Act at the federal level is key to making NYC more affordable for working musicians—to live, create, and thrive in the music capital of the world.
STATED THREAD 🧵 Today, the Council passed my Resolution 368, urging Congress to pass the Living Wage for Musicians Act. Musicians currently earn less than a third of a cent per stream. The LWMA would raise streaming payouts & ensure fair pay for artists who power our playlists.
BREAKING: Resolution 368 PASSES! Thank you @CMShahanaHanif for sponsoring the resolution in support of the Living Wage for Musicians Act 💪

New York: see you TODAY at 2pm at City Hall for the vote on Resolution 368 supporting the Living Wage for Musicians Act! 💪
