UHN STEM Pathways
@UHNSTEMPathways
A @UHN outreach program focused on instilling youth with passion and love of all things STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
Our #STEM Exploration program is underway! Thanks to many fantastic individuals and teams at #TeamUHN, high school students from across the GTA can shadow health care and research in action. Thus far, students have shadowed medicine, research, bioethics, perfusion and nursing. 💡

With age, multitasking while driving becomes increasingly challenging. New @KITE_UHN research shows how older adults have more difficulty driving while listening to speech—highlighting the need for better strategies to support driving safety. 🔗: uhnresearch.ca/news/driving-c…
What a great day learning about #Nursing and #Research @UHN. Together with UHN nurses, the STEM Pathways volunteer team and @YorkUNursing's @TheCBNA chapter we were able to host a fun career exploration day for high school students from the local community. 🩺

We had a fun day with our high school summer students exploring different areas of research @UHN. They learned about labs @McEwenInstitute, @pmcancercentre, and @TGHRI_UHN as well as participated in workshops on Artificial Intelligence, Immunology and Presentation Skills. 💡

Thank you @sci_rendezvous for recognizing our long-time volunteer Cristiana O'Brien as a 2025 Outstanding Volunteer. Cristiana has facilitated countless workshops, tours and #STEM experiences for youth - we are so grateful for all her efforts. 💙 sciencerendezvous.ca/hall_of_fame/o…
Meet “iMacs” — immune cells that stay inflamed even after treatment. Findings from @UHN researchers suggest these cells may be key to understanding chronic liver disease and improve how patients respond to therapy ➜ bit.ly/44Skh22 @UHN_Research @TGHRI_UHN #LiverDisease
An allogeneic stem cell transplant uses donor stem cells to treat cancer. People who will have an allogeneic stem cell transplant and caregivers can learn about the process in this eLearning series. @Hans_BMTProgram pmcancerclasses.ca/course/view.ph…
Most #cancer cells aren’t able to propagate tumours—but a rare few can. Using genetic barcodes, a team @PMResearch_UHN tracked these rare clones—revealing how they evolve, adapt, and resist treatment. A step toward more targeted cancer therapies. 🔗: uhnresearch.ca/news/rare-canc…
Calling all @UofT undergraduate students in Computer Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, and Engineering! We're still accepting applications to supervise undergraduate thesis research and course projects starting Fall 2025. #CompNeuro #NeuroAI
We are so excited to welcome our 2025 high school summer #research students to @UHN_Research. They will be completing 7-week placements at labs across @UHN thanks to support from the @tdsb and scientists and researchers at UHN. We can't wait to see what they learn this summer! 💡

Congrats to Hikaru Kurosawa, our June Volunteer of the Month! Hikaru has been an integral part of GTx lab demos for students. He has also created a video and workshop to teach about Artificial Intelligence. We are grateful for his outreach efforts! 💙uhnstempathways.ca/volunteer-spot…
