Exciting stuff to come from @AJPCellPhys! Thanks to the efforts of @thomashawke, along with our colleage Dr. Tyrone Washington and Dr Yusuke Nishimura we are proud to help with this new call for papers! MECHANISMS UNDERLYING DIVERSITY IN CANCER CACHEXIA

Nice work @STsitkanou @PJKoopmans @UACachexia in @ExpPhysiol Myocellular adaptations to short-term weighted wheel-running exercise are largely conserved during C26-tumour induction in male and female mice #myotwitter @UofA_ESRC @UARKHHPR @UArkResearch physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.11…
Great work from @Franmorena98 with @kaesser and @KevinMurachPhD
This #TopicalReview by Francielly Morena da Silva (@UACachexia) et al. examines the interactions of circadian rhythms with inflammation-induced skeletal muscle #atrophy ⏰ 🔬 📜 Read it here: buff.ly/3D2CKOa
New out in @AJPCellPhys from @A_Bonetto_PhD in our special call for mechanisms in the heterogeneity of cachexia. Great work y'all! journals.physiology.org/doi/abs/10.115…
This was a lot of fun!
@EIMnews @ACSMNews blog post by Kristin Jett on our recent event "Exercise is Medicine: Translating Science into Action"! Great work by Kristin! @uacoehp @UARKHHPR #coehpwecare exerciseismedicine.org/recap-exercise…
Very proud of @Franmorena98 and excited to see this interview!
It was a pleasure being interviewed by the Women in Cachexia Initiative for their quarterly newsletter spotlight! @CancerCachexia Tremendous initiative with great events, information, and collaboration opportunities. Thank you WCX team! cancercachexiasociety.org/assets/2024/WC…
The Education Committee of the @CancerCachexia Society invites you to our seminar on November 13 at 12:00 pm EST with Barry Laird and Richard Skipworth, University of Edinburgh, UK. Seminars are open to everyone, please share! See cancercachexiasociety.org for link.
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39495237/ This is a bitter sweet moment. This was Jake Boykin’s first project upon starting in my lab. A drunk driver took his life when the paper was 75% complete. I hope Jake would be happy with the final publication.
Hey Myotwitter! A call for papers in @AJPCellPhys edited by @thomashawke @CoryDungan and yours truly. We would love to see your work so send it our way! New AJP-CELL Call for Papers: Myogenic Stem Cells: From Single Cell Biology to Muscle Physiology

New work from the lab led by @Franmorena98 with @AReginaCabrera @eleanor_schrems @RonaldGJones3 @KevinMurachPhD and more. Examining heterogeneity of cachexia at the transcriptomic level. @AJPCellPhys journals.physiology.org/doi/abs/10.115…
Our 3rd new manuscript this week: @DelfinisLuca found a mitochondrial-targeted compound partially prevents muscle weakness without preventing atrophy in ovarian cancer. This opens a new direction for therapies targeting muscle ‘quality’. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
We just uploaded our next preprint on cancer-cachexia. Shahrzad Khajehzadehshoushtar discovered 'the mitochondrial-targeted antioxidant SkQ1 prevents mitochondrial-linked apoptosis but not necroptosis or skeletal muscle atrophy in ovarian cancer' ...why is apoptosis active?
@RichSkipworth and I are very proud of our PhD students @MichaelSYule @leorbrown who have published in @bmj_latest bmj.com/content/387/bm… with @ProfW_edinsurg & @Rwaller1988 on #cachexia @Caleycachexia great work!
Manuscript acceptance dance Monday! Congrats @Franmorena98 @AReginaCabrera @eleanor_schrems @KevinMurachPhD and all others! @AJPCellPhys #cancercachexia

I am lucky. These 3 men are critical to have mentored me through my career to date. I can't pay back what they have given. I hope to pay some small part forward.
