The best way to understand the war in Tunisia is a combination of walking the ground, reading original documents (not just English language ones), talking to experts and reading books. Above all, IMHO, is walking the ground. #Tunisia80

It's only FIFTY DAYS until We Have Ways Festival 2025 #WHWF25 #WHWF - looking forward to all the fun and games interspersed with serious bits from @James1940 @almurray @WeHaveWaysPod @tonypastor70
One of the most famous Victoria Cross medals, won in Tunisia, was sold today. #SoundOn #TunisianCampaign
A photo still off one of my drone videos - this shows the FUP and route taken by the Irish Guards, in daylight, towards 'The Bou'. I have walked the ground but this really has helped me to fully understand their challenge in Operation VULCAN 1943 #TunisianCampaign

A #ThursdayThought "...there grew within me the conviction...the forces that stood for human good and men's rights were this time confronted by a completely evil conspiracy with which no compromise could be tolerated" Eisenhower on his refusal to meet Germans #TunisianCampaign

#WednesdayWisdom "After the battle was over 700 German dead were counted...I say that with no pride. Of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards, just 80 came off the hill" Cpl Kenneally VC. #TunisianCampaign @irish_guards

Always a morale booster, the fastest letter from Germany to Tunisia in 1943, that I’m aware of, took 3 days. Must have been by air. Most American post came to North Africa by ship. #TunisianCampaign

This looks great
Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Museum of the Linea Gotica in Scarperia (Tuscany). I would say the nicest museum I ever visited. I share with you some pictures. 1/3
A bit of help, please 😀 Does anybody know what type of radio this was? pic taken near Longstop Hill, Tunisia, 1943, an artillery observer - it looks mighty heavy too - a two-person lift? Any recommendations for a book on the subject? #TunisianCampaign ©IWM NA2318

#OTD in 1944 - the Stauffenberg bomb plot against Hitler. Here is the memorial in Tunisia to Stauffenberg - in 1943 he served with 10Pz Division and got severely wounded in an air attack. The memorial is in the German military cemetery just outside Tunis. #TunisianCampaign

#OTD 1944 the Stauffenberg bomb plot against Hitler. Stauffenberg was a German officer who received terrible injuries in an air attack whilst serving here, in Tunisia. Sound on. #TunisianCampaign

Such a good book to read on a Sunday morning! Battle of Britain pilots, SOE agents, VC winners, camp survivors, submarine escapers, Special Forces, lost cause heroes. Recommended.

Looking for intel from the 50th Infantry Division (and attached formatios) for its first week in Normandy. Trying to figure out which German forces they encountered/identified. And yes, this is related to Defending Normany Vol.2 😉
"If there was one type I detest more than a Jew it is an Englishman. I would strangle one gladly with my own hands, here and now" Officer in 'Hermann Göring Division,' Tunisia 1943. A reminder that historians should not sentimentalise the war in North Africa. #TunisianCampaign

It's time for some #WednesdayWisdom: The Tunisian Campaign is not all about Rommel, Monty, Patton and Ike. Never forget the Italians. #TunisianCampaign

It's #MapMonday - this colour range on a map has a name, it's known as a 'hypsometric tint'. I like it. Here's El Guettar #TunisianCampaign
