Using social media to vent, obsessively posting personal updates online, and responding to loads of posts just to share our opinion (especially when no one asks for it) are all reasons why the Bible says, “whoever restrains his lips is prudent” (Proverbs 10:19).
“Christianity is too restrictive.” Restricting bad things is necessary for true freedom. Our countries’ laws against murder, rape, etc. ensure freedom. It only restricts those who love doing bad things. Christianity is the same way. Sin enslaves; Jesus is immensely freeing.
“I don’t feel close to God.” Feelings come and go. Truth doesn’t. Stay in the Word even when it’s dry.
“Science disproves the Bible.” How so? All observational science, historical science, and archeological findings have continued to verify the Bible, not disprove it. Science continues to confirm the truth of the Bible from the very first verse: “In the beginning, God.”
“The Bible is outdated.” I’d argue that it’s more relevant now than ever. Truth doesn’t have an expiration date.
“I’m a good person.” Then you’re definitely not going to Heaven, that’s for sure. Heaven isn’t for the self-righteous who wrongly think they’re good; it’s for the humble who know they’re bad and who know their only chance of mercy is found in Jesus (Luke 18:13-14).
“There are so many religions. How can Christianity be the true one?” Because only Jesus claimed to be God, proved it through miracles and a sinless life in front of many eyewitnesses for years, died, and rose again. Christianity? Historical fact. All other religions? False.
“Christians are hypocrites.” I agree. We’re sinners and regularly fall short of our calling, though true Christians repent and gradually grow in godliness over time. That’s why we need Jesus—not because we’re good, but because we’re bad. Only God is good (Mark 10:18).
“The Bible was written by men.” If you write a paper using a pencil, who wrote the paper: you, or the pencil? You did. The pencil was just the medium you used. It’s the same with the Bible. God is the author (2 Peter 1:21); men were just the medium He used to write it.
“Why would a loving God send people to Hell?” Because He’s also just. A God who doesn’t punish sin isn’t loving—He’s corrupt. Yet He’s also abundant in mercy and sent Jesus to take the punishment sinners like you and me deserve on the cross for all who repent and trust in Him.
Christians don’t just believe different things—we live different lives because we’ve been born again with a new heart, new mind, and the Holy Spirit within us.
Holiness isn’t about being better than others. It’s about being set apart for God.
It’s not legalism to obey Jesus. It’s called being a real Christian.
Following Jesus isn’t something you squeeze into your life. It *is* your life.
Christians should be hard to offend, quick to forgive, and slow to speak. That’s maturity.
You don’t need a platform to gain more heavenly rewards. Just obey where you are. That’s how God’s glory is maximized: faithfulness wherever he currently has you.
Your spiritual life doesn’t need a vibe. It needs discipline, truth, and consistency based on the Bible.
