Episode #4 of @Thingshiddenio is live. The topics covered in #4 are the topics that I spent the most time on over the last three years. The topics that I studied the most. The topics that I prayed about the most. It is the most important piece of writing I have ever done.
This is def not a MTG defense post. She’s nuts. And this is def not a cloud seeding defense post. I don’t know about cloud seeding. The point I want to make here is about the inversion of credibility. The entire concepts of credibility and “expert opinion” have taken huge hits…
Given my role in media, I’m not allowed to call anyone an idiot. However, what I can — as a scientist — say is that Marjorie’s mis-informed tweets regarding conspiracy theories/weather modification are commensurate with the level of education colloquially referred to as idiocy.
If humans keep advancing like we have been over the last few hundred years, technological innovation has the potential to bring levels of abundance that will look like what humans 2,000 years ago imagined heaven would look like.
Archeologists see evidence of care for injured individuals dating back hundreds of thousands of years. They have found skeletal remains of humans with healed bones that indicate they were fed and protected while unable to contribute.
Imagine an ant, with its brain and comprehension, looking up at a tiny corner of tread on the tire of a car - and then trying to comprehend how the entire car works. That’s us reaching for God.
It is a shorter putt to believe that a Creator created this universe than to believe it all somehow came from nothing.
The universe is 13.8bn years old. Homo sapiens. Us. We’ve been around ~200,000 years. That's 0.0014% of the age of the universe. If the age of the universe was one day, humans have been around for 0.1 seconds of that day. So just take a second and consider the nature of God’s…
Cooperation requires morality. Increasingly complex forms of cooperation require increasingly complex forms of morality. Money is a human coordination tool - it facilitates increasingly more complex forms of cooperation. You can argue that Bitcoin is a fundamentally more…
But, does... Bitcoin fix this?
99.9% percent of all species of plants and animals that ever lived on Earth are now extinct. Humans COULD go extinct. It is highly likely that our morality, or lack thereof, will be the deciding factor for our survival.
And this is quite literally the point of @Thingshiddenio 🙏

The bend towards socialism is a completely rational (although misguided) reaction to extreme levels of wealth inequality. Every single indicator I can think of tells me this is set to get worse. There will be more wealth inequality and that will lead to more calls for socialism.
“I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.” - Galileo
On suffering and the "problem of evil" - I believe that it is impossible in this day and age to even begin to comprehend God. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 55 - “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher…
Travis, what's the best answer to why there is so much suffering when an all-powerful entity could make it go away?
Everyone that has a faith, runs a ramp of reason before making a leap of faith.
