So this happened today; Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons broke the previous gym record with this 11’10” max jump today. To provide some context that would’ve been the #1 leap @ the 2018 NBA Combine for a player under 6’4” (the avg height of players who went 11’10”+ was 6’9”).
“What have you been doing all summer?!” Athlete A was full-tilt travel ball. Every week in cars, hotels, no time to train. “I’m stuck at a 7.0 60 yd dash 😭” Athlete B trained their ass off, 4-5 times per week, played local, not travel ball. 60 yd dash goes from a 7.1 to a 6.7
What if I told you, your ability to decel and adapt to what the opponent is doing, is way way way more important than your speed. Want to be better at football, work decel more than speed. But hey 🤷♂️ all gas no brakes right 🤦♂️
