If it doesn't make an athlete more explosive, accelerate better, reach a higher top speed faster (same as accelerate?), or move better...I DO NOT TRAIN IT OR TRACK IT. Can athletes be strong enough? Fast enough? Agile enough? How do I determine? That is my rabbit hole.

Time for the annual fall reminder post. Working on conditioning or “fitness” in addition to practice just gets athletes hurt. Daily practice is already too much stress. You can’t “run them into shape” but you can run them into injuries. @fitsoccerqueen

I LOVE SPEED. But increasing MaxV does not help you "play fast." It DOES 1) increase sub max speeds 2) help run fast in open field 3) produce a higher MaxV on kick off return coverage or long offensive pays 4) 100% helps TRACK... BUT WILL NOT HELP YOU PLAY FASTER unless....👇

Plyometrics help bridge the gap between our strength work and more dynamic outputs. While lifting builds the foundation, plyos facilitate the expression, enhancing the rate at which force is applied and refining your ability to produce and tolerate high speed/high impact
