This isn't surprising at all. She had legal counsel and was under indictment in New York. No plea agreement was offered, nor did she request one, as established in open court.
Yesterday, I was surprised to learn from a member of Ghislaine Maxwell's legal team that she has never been interviewed by either state or federal prosecutors. Despite news reports to the contrary, it appears that Maxwell may be an untapped source of information on the scandal...

Some context here: Maxwell was not offered a plea agreement nor did she ask for one in the lead up to her trial where she was convicted. Maxwell was investigated and charged during the first Trump administration.
